A soft tub floor needs more than a coating
A flexing or cracked fiberglass tub bottom may indicate damage to the shell or its support. A new finish alone does not address that movement. A bottom job is a structural repair intended to restore the damaged floor before the surface is finished.
How we assess a bottom job
Tell us where the tub moves, when you first noticed the problem, and whether there is visible cracking or leaking. We assess the damaged area and access before recommending reinforcement, refinishing, or a different solution.
What structural repair involves
Depending on the condition, repair can involve removing failed material, bonding fiberglass and resin, shaping the repaired area, and refinishing. The repair approach must account for the cause of movement so the finish is not asked to carry structural loads.
Send photos without stressing the floor
Photograph the whole tub and the crack from a stable position. Do not deliberately flex a damaged floor to demonstrate it. Include the property location and any known history of earlier repairs in your request.
Discuss your repair
Send photos and your location, or call (618) 218-1629. The appropriate repair, price, and schedule depend on the condition of your surface.
